Exhibition on China’s First Manned Space Docking Mission in Hong Kong Science Museum
The Hong Kong Science Museum will host the “Exhibition on China’s First Manned Space Docking Mission” from 12th to 26th of August 2012 to commemorate the achievements of China’s Shenzhou-9 Mission.
China’s Shenzhou-9 Mission took three Chinese astronauts Jing Haipeng, Liu Wang and Liu Yang into space on June 16th, 2012. For 13 days the crew carried out various scientific experiments and successfully managed manual docking of the Shenzhou-9 and Tiangong-1. Docking these two space modules is a critical step towards the goal of building a future space station. On 10th and 13th of August the three astronauts will visit Hong Kong and share their experiences with Hong Kong people and will join the opening ceremony of the exhibition in Hong Kong Science Museum.
This unique “Exhibition on China’s First Manned Space Docking Mission” highlights the achievements and importance of the Shenzhou-9 Mission for China as well as for manned space technology, also features numerous exhibits including Shenzhou-9 re-entry module, spacesuits, bicycle ergometer, holograph projection of Tiangong-1, main parachute of Shenzhou-9 spacecraft, models of Tiangong-1, Shenzhou-9 and Changzheng (Long March) rockets, space food, rescue and survival packages, several 100 photos in relation with Shenzhou-9 and many more exhibits.
In addition, the “Exhibition on China’s First Manned Space Docking Mission” will also feature documentary videos showing the astronauts conducting experiments, fun activities and objects relating to Liu Yang (China’s first female (!) astronaut).
For all who love space, spaceships, Star Trek and/or Star Wars you definitely should mark down this special “Exhibition on China’s First Manned Space Docking Mission” and even if you are not too keen about space and science you should miss this historic exhibition.
