Starbucks adapts to local taste and revives traditional local cafe

This unique Starbucks coffee store is for all the coffee lovers who appreciate design, history and atmosphere. The design of this coffee store is very unique and reminiscence the good old times in Hong Kong. It is designed like an old fashioned Hong Kong coffeehouse called “bing sutt” in Cantonese. “Bing sutt” literally means “ice room” in Cantonese and was a place for people to meet, take a break, enjoy a coffee, tea, iced beverages or trendy Western treats such as ice cream and soda pop. It used to be a unique place where East meets West and cultures, styles, traditions and modernity blended and easily mixed. In my opinion, Starbucks did a really good job in designing this place and celebrates Hong Kong history, roots and spirit in a very special and unique way. You are able to enjoy your favorite coffee blends in a timeless and welcoming environment and I highly recommend you to take a short break and enjoy this great place.

Before you enter the room, from outside you already can notice the photos hanging on the wall which are totally different style with many other Starbucks stores.

This Starbucks serve even some Hong Kong-style milk tea and coffee mixed drink which is called Yuenyeung in Cantonese. Btw, if you stop around noon you might have the chance to purchase one of the old-fashioned treats such as sweet pumpkin soup with sago or pudding cake with red beans out of an old-fashioned trolley. So try and give it a shot.
