MTR Increases Train Services

Good news for MTR train passengers. The MTR Corporation will add 815 additional train trips per week over the coming months to ease crowding and reduce waiting times. By implementing these new measurements the passenger carrying capacity will be increased by about 3 million weekly passenger journeys. MTR train frequency will be boosted and increased. MTR passengers will enjoy more comfort and convenience after adding these additional train rides.

Starting from August 27, 2012, 285 additional train trips a week will be added to the Kwun Tong Line, the Tseung Kwan O Line and the West Rail Line. Depending on the needs of the passengers on the different lines services will be enhanced in different ways. Services on the West Rail Line will be enhanced in the evening peak period during the week while enhancement for the Kwun Tong Line will be carried out in a higher train frequency on Friday evenings. The remaining 530 additional weekly trips will be added later during this year to ease crowding and reduce waiting times throughout the MTR system.
