In order to commemorate this important technology shift as well as celebrating the retirement of tickets with magnetic stripes, the MTR Corporation is launching a series of Limited Edition Souvenir Ticket Sets named “Last Magnetic Ticket”.

Starting from December 8, 2013 the MTR Corporation is launching three “Last Magnetic Ticket” Limited Edition Souvenir Ticket Sets. Each limited edition set will contain a souvenir ticket, which has a special design replicating the Single Journey Tickets used in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s as well as a 4GB USB MTR train model key ring.

The first “Last Magnetic Ticket” Limited Edition Souvenir Ticket Sets will go on sale on December 8, 2013 and will commemorate the 1970’s. The USB key ring will be featuring the first generation of MTR trains running on the Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line and Island Line.

The second limited edition “Last Magnetic Ticket” Souvenir Ticket Set will hit the shelves the week following (on December 15, 2013). The second set focuses on the MTR era in the 1980s and contains a USB key ring featuring the first generation of electric-powered train running on the East Rail Line.

The last limited edition “Last Magnetic Ticket” Souvenir Ticket Set will go on sale on December 22, 2013. It will commemorate the 1990s and feature a train model of the passenger trains running on the Tung Chung Line.

All sets are priced at HK$ 95 and available at the MTR Customer Service Centers (except the Airport Express, Light Rail, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau, Racecourse and Disneyland Resort stations). In addition, each person is allowed to purchase up to two sets while stock last.
