The National Day Race Day is one of the highlights of Hong Kong’s horse racing events and attracts thousands of visitors and diehard horse racing fans. Expect a wide range of cultural performances at the Sha Tin Racecourse paired with the thrills and excitement of the horse racing.
The National Day Cup started in 1999 (the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China). On last year’s National Day Cup, the renowned soprano star Xy Chunyu (accompanied by the Hong Kong Police band) from the Central Opera House performed the National Anthem, the Fujian Acrobatic Troupe showcased their skills and dazzling somersaults and performances of the China National Acrobatic Troupe amazed the spectators.
Last but least, the Hong Kong Jockey club usually will issue a special National Day Souvenir. Last year, the four champion horses Sacred Kingdom, Ambitious Dragon, Mighty High and Beauty Flash made on the National Day Souvenir Cover, which was not only appealing to horseracing fans and stamp collectors and sold out quite quickly.
