The popular tourist attraction Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car on Lantau Island announced a price adjustment of their fares. From December 7th, 2012 visitors who would like to take the scenic cable car have to prepared to pay higher prices.
New prices for an adult round-trip cable car ticket in the standard cabin will be HK$ 135 (was HK$ 125). Children round-trip tickets in the standard cabin are about 50% of the adult ticket price and will be HK$ 94 (was HK$ 86). Visitors who would like to take one of the crystal cabins have to add a premium of HK$ 55 (single-trip) HK$ 78 (round-trip) to the standard ticket prices. Standard tickets for seniors remain unchanged.
Information about how much the combo package will increase have not been released yet, but it is expected that the popular packages such as Journey of Enlightenment or 360 Sky-Land-Sea-Pass probably will see a fare adjustment next year, too.
Similar to the MTR price hike, the Ngong Ping 360 tries to compensate local visitors (Hong Kong residents) with several discounts throughout the next 12 months. Special offers include an instant 10% discount on ticket prices (from December 7th, 2012 to June 30th, 2013), free ride on the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car standard cabin on their birthday in 2013, free child travels during the summer months July and August when purchasing an adult ticket. Last but not least, a 50% discount for local seniors during weekdays in May and June 2013.
