Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden are both located in the heart of Kowloon – Diamond Hill. This scenic garden is located among high-rising apartment blocks and skyscrapers and visitors can grasp an understanding why Hong Kong is so often referred to as the city of tradition and modernity or where East meets West. Both Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden represent the Tang dynasty and each stone, tree, rock or water elements are landscaped after specific rules and regulation.
Chi Lin Nunnery
Chi Lin Nunnery was built in 1934, it covers over 33000 square meters and consists of dozens of different halls, lotus ponds as well as a five-floor thousand-buddha pagoda. As a Buddhist temple, Chi Lin Nunnery has statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, Guanyin and other buddhas.
The main gate of Chi Lin Nunnery in Chinese is called Mountain Gate (山门)，which is always used as the gate name of Buddhist temples. After entering the gate, walking through the Lotus Pond, you will come to the Hall of Heavenly Kings.

Nan Lian Garden
Nan Lian Garden has over 3.5 hectare area and is the only Tang landscape garden that the original layout can be traced today. Nan Lian Garden is built with one-way circular route, which will take you through the best views of the Garden.
