If you are a fan of Pixar and Disney movies, you would not want to miss the latest Pixar 30 Years of Animation Exhibition in Hong Kong. This year is marked as Pixar’s 30th Anniversary. Hong Kong Heritage Museum teams up with the famous Pixar Animation Studios once again after 2011’s Pixar 25th anniversary exhibition.
After 5 years, Pixar comes back in town and works with Hong Kong Heritage Museum to share his achievements to all the fans. The new Pixar exhibition mainly focuses on the inspiration from family and friends, therefore this event is called “the Pixar 30 Years of Animation: Hong Kong Celebration of Friendship and Family Exhibition”.

What to expect from Pixar 30 Years of Animation Exhibition
The exhibition features over 300 artworks from all the Pixar blockbuster movies. You are able to get a glimpse behind the animation magic and see how your favorite movie was made. So, no matter if you are a fan of Finding Nemo, Monster Inc. / Monster University, Toy Story (1, 2, 3), Up, Wall-E, The Good Dinosaur, The Incredibles, Brave, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, Cars (1 & 2) or Inside Out, there is something for everyone.
Who doesn’t remember Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Mike and Sully, Arlo and Spot or Carl and Russell (Up)? You can find all these wonderful characters in the exhibition. This includes digital as well as traditional artworks, such as hand-drawn sketches, paintings, sculptures and storyboards. Pixar has also selected around 180 exhibits that have never been shown in Hong Kong before.

In addition, there are several multi-media screens featuring film interviews of designers, artists and creators. Make sure to take your time and watch the behind-the-scenes screenings. You can gain some additional understanding about their inspiration and interpretations and how some of the beloved characters come to life.

This time the Pixar 30 Years of Animation exhibition focuses particular on family and friendship and how love inspired the ideas. Throughout all Pixar movies, you can find interpersonal relationships. The exhibition groups exhibits according to movies.
17 popular Pixar movies, including Inside Out, Toy Story (1,2,3), The Good Dinosaur, Ratatouille, Cars (1,2), Brave, Up, The incredibles, WALL-E, Finding memo, Monsters Inc, Monster University, A Bug’s Life, as well as the upcoming new movie Coco are located in different regions in the exhibition hall.

Upcoming Pixar Movie Coco
There is another highlight of the Pixar 30 Years of Animation exhibition. At the end of the exhibition you can take a look of the artwork of the upcoming Pixar movie Coco. So, you can learn more about Miguel, Hector, Abuelita (Coco), the Riveras and the Land of Dead. This movie will be released around the beginning of December in Hong Kong. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to get some insights in the latest Pixar release.

Don’t forget to look for the statues of Pixar characters in the museum and collect your selfies.
The first is 5 life-sized figures from Inside Out at the entrance of the museum. You can take some cute selfies with Bing Bong, Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger.

Standard admission tickets for the Pixar exhibition are HK$ 20. Everyone who purchases a standard full-price ticket can receive a special Pixar 30 Years of Animation souvenir while stock last. In case you might wonder what this special gift is, the limited souvenir gift is a post-it memo pad. Each memo pad features four different designs. You can find Sully & Mike (Monster Inc. University), Sadness & Joy (Inside Out) and Spot & Arlo (The good dinosaur). So, there is special memo sticker for everyone. Tickets can be purchase at the ticket counter inside the Heritage Museum.
