Hong Kong’s popular Ocean Park welcomes the Year of the Dragon with their Lunar Fiesta event. The 2024 Ocean Park Chinese New Year celebrations takes place from February 10 to March 3, 2024. This year, you can expect a very special holiday experience. Besides the popular theme park attractions such as e.g. games, fun and rides, you can enjoy authentic traditions and delightful festivities. When is 2024 Ocean Park Hong Kong Lunar Fiesta?

From February 10 to March 3, 2024, Ocean Park Hong Kong annual Lunar Fiesta Chinese New Year celebration starts again. The popular theme park transforms into to a mesmerising and auspicous wonderland with plenty of fun and joy.

The theme park opens six days a week (with park closures on Tuesdays, except February 13) from January 2024 onwards.

Park entry and opening times are from 10:00am to 7:00pm.

Highlights of 2024 Ocean Park Hong Kong Chinese New Year celebrations

This year’s Ocean Park Lunar Fiesta event has something for everyone. You can enjoy e.g. festival decorations, installations and dragon and lion dance performances.

Dragon and Lion Dance Fiesta

One thing you can’t miss in Hong Kong during Chinese New Year are the traditional dragon and lion dance performances. At Ocean Park you can enjoy the traditional festive performances. Make sure to catch the lion and dragons. They wish everyone good luck, health and prosperity.

Fortune Dragon Drums

The Fortune Dragon Drums are located at the Waterfront Plaza. Ring in the new year and beat the drums. The sound is supposed to spread and bring good fortune and luck. One of the photo hot spots will be a golden dragon flying 5-metre above the lucky drums. So, get your camera and cell phones ready to capture the golden dragon which symbolizes new heights in the upcoming year.

Chinese New Year Game Prizes

Ocean Park has plenty of game booths throughout the theme park. The game booths are located at the Waterfront and at the Summit.

During Chinese New Year you can win time-limited plush toys such as e.g. Cutie Q Dragon, Fortune-Shiba Inu, Slogan Bear, Sloth Omamori or Piggy Bank.

And since the fifth day of Chinese New Year coincidently falls on Valentine’s Day (February 14), you have a chance to win a very special plush at the game booths: a Heart Hugging Hedgehog.

Old Hong Kong and Neon Lights

Chinese New Year themed food, snacks and dishes

How can you visit the theme park during festival season without trying themed food? Having said that it is the time of the year, when families reunite, eat, share and make a prosperous start in the new year.

As usual, the restaurants at Ocean Park will add and offer special Chinese New Year menus, snacks and desserts.

Time-limited Chinese New Year dishes such as e.g. smoked salmon (Lo Hei), abalone with chicken fillet in clay pot, or braised mushrooms with bean sprouts are available at the Neptune’s restaurant supposed to bring good luck, wealth and good fortune.

Club Panda has prepared fortune bringing dishes such as e.g. deep-fried sweet and sour shrimp or braised pork-trotter with red fermented bean curd.

Special themed desserts, delights and snacks

In case you have a sweet tooth, you can ring in the Year of the Dragon with some desserts and snacks. The Aqua City Bakery prepared a special caramel mousse cake and Chinese New Year Butter Cookies.

Delicious themed snacks such as e.g. Happy New Year Platter, crispy fried turnip cakes, Loquat Jelly and Peach drinks, strawberry slush or hot chocolate with cotton candy stick can be found at Old Hong Kong, Clown Corner or Green Gate Food Cart.

Chinese New Year Souvenirs

Ocean Park launches a series of new and special Chinese New Year souvenirs. Highlight is the exclusive Lion Dancing Panda Shoulder Plush. The cute panda comes with a lion dance hat which you can take on and off.

Another cute souvenir is a plush panda hugging the famous Ocean Park cable car. Both souvenirs are only available at the theme park and probably a hot item. So, in case you are a panda lover, don’t wait too long. There is a high chance that they will be gone soon.
