The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is located in Sha Tin (New Territories) and you will recognize it immediately by its special construction style. Built after the traditional “Si He Yuan” style, this building stands in sharp contrast to the high rising skyscrapers and housing estates. Opened in 2000, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum is divided into 12 different galleries or exhibition halls and its purpose is to preserve Hong Kong’s art and cultural heritage.
Hong Kong Heritage Museum has the following six permanent galleries: the Orientation Theatre, the New Territories Heritage Hall, the Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall, the T.T. Tsui Gallery of Chinese Art, the Chao Shao-an Gallery and the Children’s Discovery Gallery. The other remaining six exhibition halls regularly change and feature themes of special interests, but are definitely worthwhile to have a look as well.
