This year’s “New Year. New World – Hong Kong Countdown Celebrations” will be one of a-kind. Like last year’s event, the iconic Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) will be the focal point. The celebration will begin at 11:00 pm. Special fireworks will be launched in 15 minutes intervals from rooftops around Victoria Harbour. Seven buildings in Wan Chai and Admiralty participate in the “Wish Upon a Star” fireworks and shoot special fireworks in the night sky of Hong Kong. Make sure to catch the “Wish Upon a Star” fireworks to make a wish and get your New Year 2014 off to a great start.

Similar to last year’s New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks, this year’s fireworks will be launched from barges at Victoria Harbour at midnight and will move landwards in layers to the top of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and nearby skyscrapers. The dazzling and spectacular fireworks will last for eight minutes and will be choreographed with music and lights. Expect fireworks soaring up to 250 meters in the air, as this will be the largest fireworks show in the history of Hong Kong’s New Year countdown events. The complete 2014 fireworks show will cover about 1km of Hong Kong’s famous Victoria Harbour stretching from Causeway Bay to Central.
