Museums around the world host the International Museum Day and this year’s theme is “Museums in a Changing World: New Challenges, New Inspirations”. Hong Kong’s Museums are participating in this unique event since 2001 (please refer to the article “International Museum Day 2011 -Free Admission to Hong Kong Museums“) and we highly recommend marking down the following two days in your calendar.

On May 19th and 20th, 2012 admission to most of Hong Kong’s Museums are free of charge. Yes, you read right. There are no entry fees for over 35 different museums, cultural institutions and local heritage units throughout Hong Kong. You are able to enjoy exhibitions and activities in Hong Kong’s most visited, famous and acclaimed museums including Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Film Archive, Hong Kong Museum of History, Hong Kong Space Museum, Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum and Hong Kong Science Museum. Don’t miss out at this great opportunity to enjoy some of Hong Kong’s best exhibitions and museums.

Please Note: Unfortunately, free admission is not available to the Space Theatre of the Hong Kong Space Museum, the special exhibition of “PICASSO – Masterpieces from Musée National Picasso, Paris” at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, film programmes at the Hong Kong Film Archive as well as the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences.

Last but not least, we also would like to point out that there are several activities and programs held by several of the participating units including educational programs and fun activities.
