Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine in Hong Kong is the world’s first Hello Kitty Dim Sum restaurant. It was opened on April 16, 2015. Since then, Hong Kong offers another cute option for those themed restaurants and Hello Kitty fans.

Hello Kitty Restaurant Designs

IHello Kitty Chinese Cuisine focuses on the typical Chinese and Hong Kong “tea culture” also known as Dim Sum or Yum Cha. The complete restaurant is designed as a Chinese teahouse style with Hello Kitty themed furnitures, cutleries as well as food.

Aside from the special designed tableware, there is plenty of other Hello Kitty decoration all around the restaurant. The most popular is the life-size Hello Kitty statues which is designed to match the style and theme of Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine. It naturally becomes the hot spot of photography. Walls and ceiling are all decorated with Hello Kitty’s head.

Hello Kitty Food Designs

Since it is supposed to be themed restaurant, you definitely expect unique and special designed themed food. It is probably the biggest selling point of themed restaurants. Typical Dim Sum dishes become signature Hello Kitty Dim Sum dishes.

Hello Kitty shrimp dumplings are priced at HK$ 68, Hello Kitty Mara cake for HK$ 48. Compared to the high quality local Dim Sum restaurants, the prices are even more expensive here.

The Hello Kitty lotus seed paste buns are limited and cost HK$ 62, where these Dim Sum is usually charged for HK$18-36 in good restaurants. Although everything is more expensive here, we assume that these still will become very popular because of Hello Kitty.

Other Themed Restaurants in Hong Kong

Actually Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine is not the first Hello Kitty themed restaurant in Hong Kong. In the past few years, Hello Kitty Secret Garden Café, Hello Kitty Le Petit Café, Hello Kitty x Iroha Ramen opened one after another. It seems anything collaborated with Hello Kitty will bring money no matter the food quality. However, none of these restaurants really lived up to the expectations. Be the ridiculous prices, poorly designed restaurants or the badly delivered concept of cuteness, they disappointed lots of true fans of Hello Kitty.

At the moment it looks like that the Hello Kitty Chinese Cuisine Dim Sum Restaurant might have learned from previous openings and provide a unique Hello Kitty experience with some delicious food.
