Grand Opening of New Town Plaza Apple Store in Hong Kong

Apple has announced the opening of its New Town Plaza Apple Store in Shatin. The grand opening is scheduled to take place on June 30, 2016 (10:00 am Thursday) in New Town Plaza shopping mall. It will be Apple’s first store in the New Territories and almost a year after the opening their 4th retail store on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST).

Apple’s latest retail store will replace British Department Store Marks & Spencer, which has been in the New Town Plaza shopping malls for around 20 years. The New Town Plaza Apple Store is still under construction and there are plenty of rumors out guessing that the final store will cover two floors with the typical glass floor-to-ceiling façade. The rumor says that the latest Apple Store will be extended on the 5th floor of the shopping mall and features an outdoor deck. But today when it opened we found out it only has one floor.

Inside New Town Plaza Apple Store

The New Town Plaza Apple Store is expected be to the most crowded one. Although there is another Apple Store in Festival Walk shopping mall (Kowloon Tong) (just 2 MTR stations away), there is a high chance that this Apple store will be the first stop for many Mainland Chinese visitors for hunting the latest Apple MacBooks, iPads, iWatches and gadgets.

In addition, Apple just recently added a third floor on its first flagship store in the IFC shopping mall in Central to cope with the never-ending demand.
