Hong Kong Space Museum is located at the popular tourist spot Tsim Sha Tsui. Hong Kong Space Museum is closed starting from October 5, 2015. The temporary closure is due to renovation work and replacement of exhibits. At the moment it is expected that the egg-shaped Hong Kong Space Museum will re-open around the end of 2016.

What will be renovated when Hong Kong Space Museum is closed ?

The Hall of Space Science and the Hall of Astronomy will be renovated and renamed as the Hall of Cosmos and the Hall of Space Exploration. The new exhibition halls will feature about 100 sets of new exhibits with 70% of them will be interactive. The halls will introduce visitors to the astronomy and space technology. Visitors can learn more about the evolution of the universe, the solar system and space exploration.

The newly renovated Hall of Cosmos will be on the ground floor. Exhibits will include “Moon Jump”, “Big Bang Theatre” and “Gravity Surfing” while on the first floor will be the Hall of Space Exploration which will feature the exhibits “Disorientation in Space”, “Fire a Rocket” and “Space Training”.

In addition, the Stanley Ho Space Theatre as well as the Lecture will be affected by the renovation work and will close from November 1, 2015 to March 1, 2016.

What can you do when Hong Kong Space Museum is closed ?

Hong Kong Space Museum is not the only attraction closed for renovation during this time. Hong Kong’s another popular attraction “Avenue of Stars” is also closed for improvement project.
