MTR Launches Year of the Commemorative Ticket 2023 for Chinese New Year

MTR will launch a set of Year of the Rabbit limited ticket to welcome the 2023 CNY. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s celebration will be limited and very different from past years. However, many locals will not miss the chance to collect the Chinese New Year MTR ticket set as an annual tradition. The 2023 Year of the Rabbit MTR Limited Souvenir Ticket will be available from January 1st, 2023“.

Every year, Hong Kong’s subway company MTR launches a commemorative ticket featured the zodiac of the year. Many locals look forward for the launch of the special limited edition 2023 Year of the Rabbit MTR Limited Souvenir Ticket Set to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit. Similar to the previous years, this year’s Ticket Set consists of two specially designed tickets.

Designs of 2023 MTR Year of the Rabbit Commemorative Ticket Set

The special limited edition MTR souvenir ticket sets have two designs. One design features the calligraphic work of local architect Abe Au Kit Tong, whose brushstrokes can be found in many station names of old designed MTR stations. Another design portrays a cute rabbit from local illustrator Bonnie Pang.

The artworks of Abe Au is regarded as the art collection of MTR stations, connecting many locals’ memory and life.

In China, the rabbit represents calm, generous, careful and lively. Both beautiful illustrated tickets depict the characteristic of the rabbit wishing the blessing and good luck for the upcoming year. These tickets are a great souvenir to take home.

The adorable limited edition “Year of the Rabbit” MTR Souvenir Ticket Set goes on sale on January 1st, 2023 at a price of HK$ 100.

Each limited “Year of the Rabbit” Souvenir Ticket is valid for unlimited rides on the MTR on the first day of the Year of the Rabbit on January 22nd, 2023. Except Airport Express, High Speed rail, East Rail Line First Class as well as journeys to or from Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations. The MTR Ticket Set is available at all MTR and Light Rail Customer Service Centers (except Airport Express, Hong Kong West Kowloon, Lo Wu, Lok Ma Chau and Racecourse stations).

In addition, a special discount will be available for online purchase through both MTR official website and MTR App. The promotion is at a price of HK$ 90 from Jan 1 – 22 2023 to encourage people keeping social distance.
