MTR Launches Year of the OX Commemorative Ticket 2021 for Chinese New Year

Hong Kong is getting ready to welcome the Chinese New Year of the OX 2021. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year’s celebration will be limited and very different from past years. However, many locals will not miss the chance to collect the Chinese New Year MTR ticket set as an annual tradition. Designs of 2021 MTR Year of the OX Commemorative Ticket Set

The special limited edition MTR souvenir ticket sets have two designs and portray different versions of ox.

The Western part of the “Year of the Ox” MTR Souvenir Ticket Set is designed by Spanish illustrator Mar Hernández. The commemorative ticket features an ox in a contemporary western style presenting and highlighting the Ox’s resoluteness and prudence.

The Eastern part features an artwork from famous Chinese artist Li Keran. His illustration showcases a relaxed and peaceful ox which represents the the beauty of inner peace and quietness.

In China, the ox represents hard work, positivity and honesty wishing for a strong and steady New Year. Both beautiful illustrated tickets depict the characteristic of the ox wishing the blessing and good luck for the upcoming year.

In addition, the MTR also launches a special designed “Bamboo Blessing” chopstick set. This set includes two pairs of bamboo chopsticks with an ox ornament on top representing strength and perseverance. The chopsticks are made of eco-friendly fortune bamboo which has the same pronunciation as blessing in Cantonese.

But that’s not all. Besides the two chopsticks you get two adorable ox-themed chopsticks holders to place your chopsticks on it. The limited edition Year of the Ox bamboo chopstick set is also available from January 23, 2021 onwards and is priced at HK$ 90.
