7-Eleven x Hello Kitty “ Joy to the Word ” 2015 Promotion

The holiday season is coming up. Like previous years, popular convenience chain store 7-Eleven in Hong Kong is launching a new set of collectable toys. Although, I thought 7-11 would join the Snoopy craze (since MTR and Hong Kong McDonalds are launching some special designed products due to the upcoming new Snoopy and Peanuts movie), Hong Kong’s 7-Eleven decided to stick with Sanrio and Hello Kitty.

Last year 7-11 promoted Hong Kong Disneyland’s latest attraction such as the Light Parade with special collectable Disney character toys, this year it is Hello Kitty’s turn again and 7-Eleven launches some special designed Hello Kitty “Joy to the Word” Tsum Tsum Toy Edition sets.

The promotion will be available starting from December 2nd, 2015. Similar to previous editions, this year’s edition has a special theme. Recently, the Tsum Tsum characters became quite hot.

Btw in case you are not familiar and asking yourself what “Tsum Tsum” is:

Tsum Tsum derives from the Japanese word tsumu meaning to stack. Hence, the plush toys are designed in a cute way that they can be stack e.g. to a pyramid or tower.

This year’s 7-Eleven Hello Kitty toys are designed as Tsum Tsum characters with a special feature. Each character is actually a colorful marker which can be used for drawing and writing (that’s the reason the theme is named “Joy to the Word”). The Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel are the magic pen with multi-colors which can be used to combine other characters.

The 7-Eleven x Hello Kitty “Joy to the Word” will be again in two phases. The first phase “Rainbow Playground” includes Sanrio’s characters Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, My Melody, lazy egg Gudetama, Chococat, Tuxedosam, Little Twin Stars Kiki & Lala, Kerokerokeroppi, Hangyodon, Pompompurin as well as one of the characters from The Runabouts.

Starting from January 13th, 2016, the second phase “Animal Carnival” will feature special animal crossover edition of the favorite Sanrio characters including Gudetama Rabbit, Bad-Badtz-Maru Crocodile, Hello Kitty Lion, Minna No Tabo Panda, Kerokerokeroppi Turtle, Kuromi Bird, My Melody Lady Bug, PompomPurin Bee, Ahiru No Pekkle Sheep, Hangyodon Elephant, Osaru No Monkichi Tiger and Cinnamorol Cock.

Similar to previous 7-Eleven x Hello Kitty promotion, 7-Eleven will launch 2 additional limited edition Hello Kitty figures each time for Christmas, Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day.

In order to redeem one of the special 7-11 x Hello Kitty “Joy to the Word” limited toys, you need to collect special bonus stickers. Every HK$ 20 purchase in one of the 7-Eleven stores will get you one bonus sticker and every 18 stickers or 7 stickers plus HK$ 20 can redeem one.

Please note: Similar to previous 7-11 promotions, you are not able to pick your favorite Sanrio or Hello Kitty toy character. All figurines are pre-packed and given out randomly.
