Hong Kong Peak Tram Service Suspension May 2018

The Peak is one of Hong Kong’s must-see attraction. The best and fastest way to get up on the Peak is to take the historic Peak Tram. However, from time to time this iconic transportation needs a break and will undergo maintenance work. This time the Peak Tram closure 2018 will be effective in the second week of May.

Peak Tram Service Suspension

The reason behind the Peak Tram closure is maintenance and haulage rope replacement. As a result, the popular tourist attraction shuts down its service during May 7 – 11, 2018 (for 5 days). So, in case you plan to visit the Peak you won’t be able to enjoy the ride on the historic Peak Tram during this period. However, you don’t need to worry. There are alternative ways to get up to the Peak.

Alternative ways to travel to the Peak

So, in case you plan to visit the Peak during the scheduled maintenance period, what are your options to get up to the Peak during the scheduled service suspension of the Peak Tram?

First, you can take Bus No.15 from the Central Ferry Piers. This bus also has an additional stop at the Garden Road Peak Tram Lower Terminus during the suspension period.

Second, you can hop on one of the Green Mini Bus No. 1. The bus terminal of Bus No.1 is under the IFC Tower II.

Alternatively, taxi is another efficient option. Unlike the Bus 15 and Minibus 1 will stop at many stations, taxi can bring you directly to the Peak. Taxi is the second fastest way getting to the Peak beside the Peak Tram after all.

Please note that the Bus Route 15C between Central Ferry Piers and the Peak Tram Lower Terminus will also be suspended during this maintenance period.

The attractions, shops and restaurants such as the Peak Tower and Sky 428 Terrace remain open as usual.

When does the Peak Tram resume service ?

Assuming there are no unexpected occurrences during the annual maintenance work, the Peak Tram should resume its service at 7am on Saturday May 12th, 2018.
